Adjusting to brick and mortar schools
Not sure if the adjustment to the Germantown schools was harder on me or the kids. It sure made for some long days for the kids. By the time they arrived home, they were pretty tired and didn't want to do any kind of homework, but they still did. First thing after a snack, they get right to work on that homework. I have yet to tell them they need to do it. They are all being very responsible and staying organized - two of the things I was most concerned about.
The girls are a part of Rockfield Elementary which has about 300 students. Tiffany and Crystal are in different classes, but share a lot of the same friends. In each of their classes, the boys out number the girls 2 to 1. Both of the girls are doing well in all areas! It's neat to see the girl's friendship blossom even more now that they don't spend as much time together.
Rex is a student at Kennedy Middle School in the 6th grade. There are roughly 900 students enrolled at KMS. His day starts very early when the bus picks him up at 6:47am. I am so proud of him and the work he is doing.
We really miss the the kiddos that are away at school all day. We watch the clock closely and wait for the bus to return them to us in the afternoon. Doesn't seem right going on field trips without them. By no way has this been an easy adjustment for any of us and God has stretched us. Next year is a new year and we will once again evaluate how to best educate our children.
